Luxurious Wool Blanket - Materials

To make the blanket you will need:

• 1 3/4 yards of Organic Wool Melton from O-Wool, I used Chocolate.
• 1 spool of Gutterman 100% cotton thread in color 2960
  
• 1 3/4 yards of Liberty of London Tana Cotton Lawn, I used Rapunzel, #7295A

I love this blanket!! The tutorial looks great. I have one question though... can you suggest an good alternative to this very expensive wool? It looks lovely, but I don't dare make something for the first time on such pricey material. What do you think would be a good alternative?
